The Social Network Movie

Every age has its visionaries who leave, in the wake of their genius, a changed world - but rarely without a battle over exactly what happened and who was there at the moment of creation. The Social Network explores the moment at which Facebook was invented -- through the warring perspectives of the super-smart young men who each claimed to be there at its inception. The film moves from the halls of Harvard to the cubicles of Palo Alto to capture the heady early days of a culture-changing phenomenon in the making -- and the way it both pulled a group of young revolutionaries together and then split them apart.

Typography and the Creative Use of Fonts

Typography, the technique of arranging text, is one of the most seen yet most ignored art forms in existence.

Most people would be surprised at the effort that goes into selecting fonts—often called typefaces. Decisions must also be made about size and color, as well as the amount of space between characters and the amount of space between lines of text.

Minimalism in Web Design

“Less is more,” is an appropriate way to explain minimalism, a rather broad term used to describe the arrangement of various elements in creative works including art, architecture, interior design, music and dance, even landscaping.

Minimalism can be thought of as the use of clean and simple lines, leaving spaces uncluttered. The work is stripped down to its most fundamental features. The concept of minimalism has existed for centuries yet recently experienced a surge in popularity.

How to Avoid Phishing Scams

Phishing is the criminally fraudulent practice of attempting to acquire personal information— such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, and bank account information— over the internet. Phishing is typically carried out through email or instant messages.

Phony communications disguised to appear as if they are from a popular website or financial institution will instruct users to enter sensitive personal information at a fake website that is nearly identical in appearance to the genuine one in order to steal pertinent details. Phishing can result in things like hacked email accounts, bank fraud or even identity theft.

If you’ve ever dealt with email marketing campaigns, you’ve most likely run into issues with spam filters.

Why Does Email Get Lost?

Research shows that approximately ten to twenty percent of all emails sent never reach their intended recipients because of spam filters. All too often, legitimate emails that were sent to people who actually wanted to receive them—for example, customers that signed up to receive email notifications from your company—go straight to their spam folder instead of their inbox.

This happens because spam filters use a set of criteria to judge whether or not an email is “real” mail or “junk” mail. It’s nearly impossible to eliminate the problem from occurring, but learning how spam filters work is a step in the right direction.
